At Yeshiva Keren Hatorah we generate a wholesome environment designed to promote the optimal spiritual, academic and social development of a bochur into a true ben yeshiva who can articulate his Torah in any venue. Yeshiva Keren Hatorah instills an abiding love for Torah and Tefillah that will inspire him throughout his years in beis medrash and the remainder of his life as a husband, father, and grandfather.
The years of mesivta are critical in the growth of a ben Torah. It is there that he learns to dive into the yam hatalmud cultivating the roots of his lifelong approach to gemara. We focus on learning in a derech rooted in pshat and classical lomdus. Magidei shiur are selected for their ability to teach clearly and conceptually as well as their personal devotion and love for their talmidim. This combination instills an enduring love sweetened by the mussar that these young men imbibe daily.
Open communication between rebbeim, teachers and students fosters an affinity that is intensified through small classes (and state-of-the-art technology). Experienced, approachable mechanchim and teachers generate an excitement for learning throughout the day. Our environment motivates each talmid to aspire to moving to the next level as he develops a positive view of his ability to achieve.
In the morning bochurim hone their skills in the (rigorous) analysis of Rashi, Tosafos and the Maharsha. These proficiencies serve as the tarmac from which their learning takes off to delving into numerous other Rishonim and Acharonim as well as the masters of classical lomdus. Such limud provides fertile ground for absorbing the principles of mussar and intricacies of halacha. The warm and caring nature of our dedicated rebbeim is infectious. As time passes, talmidim look increasingly toward emulating these devoted mechanchim.
Bekiyus shi’urim following lunch provide an additional opportunity for talmidim to develop their relationship with their rebbi while enhancing their leining capability and refining their fluency in Shas.
To complement our outstanding Limudei Kodesh program, Yeshiva Keren Hatorah features an innovative general studies curriculum replete with educational resources that enable our students to excel. Many freshman and sophomore courses are primarily tenth to twelfth grade work; upper classmen learn those higher-level writing, mathematical, and analytical skills that are not normally taught in high school. An essential part of the program is instruction and training in the use of computers as tools for writing, scholarly research and analysis.
Stimulating critical thinking is an integral component of our secular studies curriculum. Classes focus on both the oral and written interpretation of material. Formal presentations are integrated into the English, Social Studies, and Science curricula. Creative and expository writing teaches our upper classmen to enhance their communications’ skills. Coordination of the programs in literature and history provides students with an in-depth understanding of the social and cultural forces that have shaped Western society.
A three-year honor's track in mathematics prepares students to excel in advanced math and calculus. Optional honors courses in biology, advanced chemistry and physics provide an opportunity to analyze both the theoretical and the practical.
Some students prepare to excel on the AP examinations.
